Divorce Recovery Series

FEELING WHOLE AGAIN:

A DIVORCE RECOVERY Series

A program designed to assist persons recovering from

and/or struggling through the process of divorce.

Purpose:

This five week series is designed to assist persons recovering from or struggling through the process of divorce. Through the sessions of the workshop, individuals will be given the opportunity to learn and process information about various aspects of divorce and how this process impacts them. Each session (two hours in length) is geared to identifying core areas affected by divorce and to then provide strategies that will enable partici-pants not only to cope with their situation, but to grow personally. By providing useful information in a supportive and caring environment, participants will begin the process of healing and regaining wholeness.

Sessions One & Two: Changing Role Identity

When one is no longer a wife, a husband or part of a couple, there are personal and social challenges that arise. Along with this change a person has to reevaluate what caused the break up of this important relationship. When children are involved, parenting patterns change in often uncomfortable ways. Other relationships undergo redefinition as well. These two sessions will help attendees understand the social and personal dynamics that affect them and how they redefine them as a person.

Session Three: The Legal System

The legal system is difficult to navigate. This is particularly true when it comes to divorce. There are very few simple divorces. A person’s involvement in legal matters related to divorce can go on for years. This session will provide a wider look at the legal process and how it impacts the process of divorce.

Session Four: Financial Entanglements

Personal finances are difficult enough and become very complicated as one goes through the process of separation and divorce. Who is responsible for what and when, are important questions that need to be asked. Participants will examine their personal finances so that they can avoid pitfalls, establish or maintain good credit and come up with a good manage-ment plan for their resources and assets.

Session Five: Bringing it all Together, a Panel Discussion.

This session will bring the participants together with Divorce Survivors. These veterans of the process will provide their personal stories and insights into the process of separation and divorce. Through the wisdom they have gained, these survivors will impart the real, hard earned information and hope that those who are presently in the midst of the divorce process need as they go through the difficulties of divorce and seek to discover their particular path  to recovery and wholeness.
