Christmas Ingathering
LCS works with congregations of the Bethlehem/Easton, Lehigh, and Northern Lehigh Valley Mission Districts to provide a more joyful and hopeful Christmas season for those who are institutionalized or find themselves on the margin of society. Each year some 20,000 gifts/items are gathered and distributed to nearly 30 organizations for their residents or clients. Learn more.
Divorce Recovery Series
This five week series is designed to assist persons recovering from or struggling through the process of divorce. Through the sessions of the workshop, individuals will be given the opportunity to learn and process information about various aspects of divorce and how this process impacts them. Each session (two hours in length) is geared to identifying core areas affected by divorce and to then provide strategies that will enable partici-pants not only to cope with their situation, but to grow personally. By providing useful information in a supportive and caring environment, participants will begin the process of healing and regaining wholeness. Learn more.
Grief Ministry
Through six, 1 1/2 hour sessions LCS offers the opportunity to explore grief in a small group setting. Under the guidance of a professional counselor or trained facilitator, participants will learn how they can live with the grief associated with loss or the death of a loved one.The purpose of the grief seminar is to provide a safe place to learn about the stages of grief and explore the feelings participants may have associated with the loss of a loved one. Lay Eucharistic Visitor Training
Eucharistic Visitors are members of the congregation selected by their pastor to be specifically trained to bring the communion meal from the family table at worship to ill and homebound members of their congregation. LCS has created this training pro-gram to help volunteers learn the biblical and theological background of the Sacrament of Holy Communion, coupled with methods of visitation and administration of the rite. Marriage Preparedness Series
We offer a Marriage Preparedness Series for couples who are planning to be married. Each series is comprised of six one-hour sessions spaced over a two or three week time period. In these sessions, coupleshave the opportunity to learn more about each other as they explore issues around communication, conflict resolution, sexuality, finances, spirituality and role expectations. Spiritual Gifts
Are members in your congregation looking for a way to become involved in meaningful ministry? Are they looking for meaning and purpose in their lives? Discovering God’s Vision for Your Life: You and Your Spiritual Gifts is an eight hour course that can be offered in a variety of formats to meet busy schedules. Through a sound, biblically based curriculum, it seeks to help participants discover, develop and deploy the gifts with which God has blessed them. Learn more.
Workshops for Confirmands
LCS’s Workshops for Confirmands are provided to enhance the Confirmation program of local congregations. These workshops take place in a variety of settings, ranging from nursing homes to multi-cultural and inter-faith settings. By participating in these events confirmands have an opportunity to experience faith in action and to explore their own faith practice in relation to others from a different culture or religion.
