Lutheran Congregational Services is a social ministry organization of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. We are committed to working with congregations to provide the support and coordination essential to effectively care for those in need. LCS uses a hands-on approach to identify the needs of your congregation and the wider community in order to equip your congregation with the tools necessary to answer its call to serve Christ.

Upcoming Special Events

 11th Annual Golf Outing

LCS will hold its annual golf outing on August 31, 2009 at Green Pond Country Club starting with registration at 9:30 a.m. and shotgun start at 11:00 a.m.  There will be complimentary gifts and all the usual prizes.  Even a chance to win $10,000.  Hot dog and beverage at the turn with a buffet meal to follow.  The cost is $90/golfer which includes a cart. Camp Noah

Our Lutheran Disaster Response Network is again gathering team members and resources to send out Camp Noah teams this summer. (Camp Noah is a week long, full day program for children impacted by disaster.)  Teams are going to Waterloo, Iowa July 11-18 and Mason City, Iowa August 1-8.  Funding and other resources still needed for both teams.  Why are we going to Iowa? Over 35,000 people were evacuated and 85 out of 99 counties in that state were declared disaster areas following flooding in 2008.   To learn more, click here.  To join a team link here.

We have just learned that individuals are needed to fill a team to serve in Postville, Iowa, August 1-8.  An immigration raid in 2008 resulted in 400 arrests.  Most of these workers were deported without an opportunity for their children (U.S. citizens) to say goodbye.  These children have since exhibited many serious symptoms of stress.  Some have stopped talking.  Since the factory subsequently went bankrupt many others in this small community are also affected.  To help with this endeavor, please click above.

Disaster Preparedness Training 101

A training will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2009 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Frist Presbyterian Church, Center Street, Bethlehem.  The cost is $10 per person or $50 for up to ten people from the same congregation.  For more information, please click here.
